San Jose, Calif.-Based Adobe Launches Bar-Code Software for Digital Forms.

Mar. 8--Adobe Systems is developing software that adds bar codes to its digital forms, a move that acknowledges how long it is taking for some businesses to completely abandon paper.

"We feel that it's a really nice bridge solution," said Dan Baum, who led the effort for Adobe.

Bar codes most often store information about retail products, allowing stores to quickly and accurately track their inventory and tally customer sales. The way San Jose-based Adobe plans to use them in electronic forms, bar codes will store information including names, addresses and other text.
