U.S. Geological Survey May Bring Nearly Fifty Jobs to Flagstaff, Ariz., Office.

Mar. 9--U.S. Geological Survey officials sank a bench mark into downtown Flagstaff's Heritage Square last week to celebrate its 125th anniversary, but voters will decide the agency's future in the community. The bond for the USGS campus expansion, estimated to cost about $50 million, will be repaid through lease reimbursements and will require no tax support. It is one of 13 Flagstaff city bond items on the May 18 ballot.

It comes at a time with USGS transferring part of its western regional office from Menlo Park, Calif., to Tucson, bringing an economic and scientific boon there, while Flagstaff's campus will either grow by nearly 50 jobs and added programs...
