IKEA to Add 350 Jobs to New Haven, Conn., Area with Opening of Store.

Mar. 16--IKEA, the Swedish home furnishings retailer, takes its name from the first initials of its founder -- Ingvar Kamprad -- and the first letters of Kamprad's native farm and village -- Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd.

In Connecticut, IKEA now stands for another thing: 350 jobs.

The retailer plans to open its first New England store this summer in New Haven, and is kicking off a campaign this week to draw the attention of people interested in applying for a job at the new store.

On Thursday, IKEA will give prospective applicants an opportunity to talk to recruiters in an event on the green in New Haven.
