America Online to Launch Online Bill Payment Service.

Mar. 16--America Online is expected to launch an online bill payment service today, in one more sign that people are increasingly turning to the Web to pay bills.

Yodlee Inc., which allows customers to aggregate account information from 2,500 billers, provides the backbone for AOL's new service.

AOL is the first company to adopt Yodlee's service, called BillDirect, and some banks are expected to adopt Yodlee's bill payment service later this year.

AOL found that customers prefer to pay bills at the Web site of each biller, such as the electric company or cellular service provider, so they can pay at the last minute, receive immediate credit...
