ATA Airlines to Double Turboprop Flights in Indianapolis-Chicago Route.

Mar. 16--ATA Airlines is betting that passengers who fly between Indianapolis and Chicago won't mind the hum of propellers if it gives them more flight choices.

The nation's 10th-largest passenger carrier said Monday it is doubling to 16 the number of daily flights between Indianapolis International Airport and its Chicago Midway hub, starting June 1.

The change will increase the frequency of flights to nearly once an hour, but service will switch exclusively to Saab 340 turboprops. Two Boeing 737 jetliners will be pulled from the route.
