Connecticut Approves Sale of CIGNA Retirement Services Unit to Prudential.

Mar. 26--CIGNA's $2.1 billion deal to sell its Hartford-based retirement services business to Prudential Financial Inc. got the go-ahead Thursday from Connecticut's insurance commissioner.

Commissioner Susan F. Cogswell's ruling, which follows a March 4 public hearing on the matter, holds Prudential to the commitments it made to the community.

Prudential officials promised that the business would remain at 280 Trumbull St. in Hartford, "where there will continue to be a meaningful executive presence, and where significant operational activities will continue to be maintained."
