Staff Wants to Save Medical College of Pennsylvania.

Mar. 26--The medical staff at MCP hospital knows the facility is ailing, but they see a remedy: Buy it themselves.

"We can run it better," said cardiologist Nancy Pickering, a leader in the fight to save the Medical College of Pennsylvania hospital, currently set to close by June 30.

Pickering and her colleagues have assembled a management team experienced in turning around troubled hospitals such as MCP. She is negotiating with a bank for a $20 million loan, assembling a board of directors and is expecting today to begin reviewing the hospital's finances.
