$800,000 Payment Threatens Comcast's License in Sacramento County, Calif.

Mar. 26--Sacramento cable television regulators are threatening to pull Comcast's license to serve Sacramento County unless the cable giant agrees to pay nearly $800,000 in back franchise fees.
Richard Esposto, executive director of the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission, will recommend such an action at the body's next meeting on April 3 unless Comcast pays the money by April 1.
The figure comes after an audit that found Comcast and its predecessor, AT&T Broadband, underreported revenue during a four-year period ending in 2002. The revenue is used to determine the annual franchise fee.
