Eastern Washington University Seeks Engineering Program.

Mar. 26--Eastern Washington University wants to train electrical engineers, a job held by private and state research schools.
EWU asked the Higher Education Coordinating Board on Thursday for permission to offer a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.
Their request was supported by state schools, but met strong opposition from private schools like Gonzaga University that offer similar engineering programs.
Private schools overall say enrollment in these high-tech programs is soft and the jobs are scarce.
A decision is expected May 20.
