South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Workshop Gives Nod to Cyber Terrorism.

Mar. 27--The words "terrorist attacks" typically conjure up images of bombings and charred remains of buildings, but for FBI agent Margaret Gurley it involves a lot of zeros and other numbers.

Gurley, who works in the Columbia-based computer crime lab, updated emergency managers on computer and cyberattacks by terrorists and hackers during the final day of the state's annual hurricane and emergency management conference sponsored by state Emergency Management Division.

Gurley's workshop was the final session on terrorism, a track of the conference which included port security and how vulnerable smaller communities are to terrorist attacks. Officials...
