Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Settles with U.S. Inspector.

Apr. 1--Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has settled a case with the federal government, which had claimed the insurer owed Medicare nearly $4 million.
An audit by the Office of Inspector General for the federal Department of Health and Human Services, released this week, concluded that Horizon owed $3.8 million to Medicare. The matter was settled in February for less than that amount, said Thomas Rubino, a Horizon spokesman, adding that he could not provide the specific amount.
"This was not a fine," he said. "It's merely the resolution of accounting differences."
