Bank of America Expects No 'Meaningful' Cuts in Connecticut Jobs after Merger.

Apr. 2--Bank of America's megamerger with FleetBoston Financial Corp. won't take a heavy toll on jobs in Connecticut, and the state will remain the headquarters of key commercial finance operations, a high-ranking Bank of America executive said Thursday.

"I don't see any meaningful reduction in the headcount," said R. Eugene Taylor, president of commercial lending at Bank of America.

He added: "I couldn't say that if I was in Boston ... or in Charlotte."

Taylor said job cuts are more likely in those cities -- the headquarters of the two merging banks -- because of duplication in administrative and back office employees. In Connecticut,...
