Former University of Oregon Official Admits to $70,000 in Thefts.

Apr. 7--A former fiscal manager at the University of Oregon pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated theft for buying more than $70,000 in personal goods -- including Rolex watches and new dining room furniture -- with a university credit card.
Barrie Osborne, who worked in the computer and information science department, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to repay $70,973 to the university. He also was placed on probation for five years.
In addition to the theft charge, Osborne also pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of a credit card, official misconduct and misapplication of entrusted property. The latter two charges are misdemeanors and the...
