Orange County, Fla., Utilities Agree to Pump from Taylor Creek.

Apr. 7--Residents of Orange County -- and probably elsewhere in Central Florida -- will be gulping down water drawn from unspoiled Taylor Creek within nine years, according to an agreement reached Tuesday.
By 2013, experts predict Orange County's need will outpace the amount of water the county will be allowed to pump from the underground Floridan aquifer, currently the region's primary source for drinking water.
Under an agreement approved by Orange commissioners, the county will partner with the Orlando Utilities Commission to begin treating water from largely pristine Taylor Creek and pump it into homes and businesses across the region.
