North Dakota Has $210 Million in Road Work on Tap.

Apr. 9--The North Dakota Department of Transportation has more than $210 million worth of road work either under way or scheduled this spring and summer. In an effort to avoid accidents and fatalities, the department and the North Dakota Highway Patrol is promoting safety in construction zones.

Nationwide, nearly 1,200 people were killed in work zones in 2002, 80 percent of them either motorists or pedestrians. In North Dakota last year, two work zone fatalities were reported. The Highway Patrol issued 1,300 citations last year.
