Analyst: Nevada Power Co. Rate Case Decisions 'Unfortunate'.

Apr. 13--An analyst and adviser to institutional investors called the Nevada Power Co. rate case decisions "unfortunate," but urged utility executives to take action to avoid penalizing shareholders.
The Public Utilities Commission last week cut Nevada Power's request for a general rate increase for nonenergy matters to $43 million from $142 million, Studness observed in a report dated April 6.
While he applauded the decision to award most of the $173 million energy rate increase sought by Nevada Power, Studness said investors will focus on the inadequate return on equity allowed in the general case.
