Hundreds Attend IKEA Job Fair in New Haven, Conn.

Apr. 17--NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Carlos Perez was laid off as a chemical handler at a pharmaceutical company in the state 16 months ago, and has struggled to find work ever since.
Mark Kuba was out of a toolmaking job two weeks ago after his Milford company was bought by an outfit from Michigan and local workers were let go.
And Scharletta Samuel is facing a May 14 layoff from her job as a billing clerk in Derby.
All three -- and hundreds of others -- stood in line Friday hoping to land one of the 350 jobs that will be available when Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA opens its first New England outlet in New Haven this summer.
