Southwest Airlines Chairman to Act as Chief Negotiator with Flight Attendants.

Apr. 21--Southwest Airlines Co. has asked chairman Herb Kelleher to roll up his sleeves and take a seat at the bargaining table with flight attendants.
The airline announced Tuesday that Mr. Kelleher will replace the company's chief executive, Jim Parker, as chief negotiator. Mr. Kelleher, the airline's iconic leader and co-founder, has kept a low profile since leaving the chief executive office in summer 2001.
Mr. Parker told employees this week that after two years, talks with the Transport Workers Union "have become very personal and, therefore, have gotten off track." A transcript of the comments was provided by Southwest on Tuesday.
