Low Interest Rates Keep Homes Selling Briskly in Columbia, Mo.

Apr. 21--Every year, sometime between late February and March, "For Sale" signs bloom like tulips in yards across Columbia. This year, the sign season is off to a strong start, on pace to match the record-breaking sales volume of 2003.

First-quarter home sales in Boone County brought in more than $59 million for 417 units sold through March 31, according to a report by the Columbia Board of Realtors. In the first quarter of last year, 416 residential units sold -- a 24 percent increase over the same period in 2002.
