Winston-Salem, N.C.-Area Airport to Conduct Noise Study for Proposed FedEx Hub.

Apr. 21--GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority accepted a $1.2 million grant from the federal government to begin work on its noise-control study yesterday, in anticipation of the proposed FedEx cargo-hub project.

The best part? Most of the study will be paid for with federal funds.

The study will be primarily financed by the Federal Aviation Administration, while the airport authority and the state will each pay about $32,109, Ted Johnson, the authority's executive director, said.

The grant approval was announced during the authority's monthly board meeting.
