Insurance Offering from PNC Bank Protects against Identity Theft.

Apr. 22--PNC Financial Services Group Inc. is rolling out a new identity-theft insurance package that is believed to be one of the first in the country to offer free coverage to banking customers.

The insurance is available for free to more than 800,000 banking customers who have bundled accounts with PNC. Customers who have other PNC accounts can buy the insurance for a fee.

The insurance is designed to pay for all of the customers' costs if their identity is stolen.
