Interim University of Missouri Chancellor Keeps Options Open in Job Search.

Apr. 23--While maintaining his interest in leading the University of Missouri-Columbia for the long term, Provost Brady Deaton said yesterday he doesn't see himself in an audition for the permanent chancellorship.

Deaton said he will be "100 percent focused" on the interim chancellor job when he assumes it Sept. 1, but he suggested he'll continue considering posts away from MU.

"I also will be looking very broadly in terms of what opportunities are available to me," Deaton said.

Later he added: "I'm not eager to jump into another search right now."
