German Development Bank KfW Set to Invest in Thailand's SME.

Apr. 26--The German development bank KfW has agreed to take a shareholding in the SME Development Bank of Thailand.

SME Bank president Chotisak Assapaviriya said details on the investment would be discussed with KfW representatives on April 28.

He said the co-operative deal would involve financial support, staff and technical training.

KfW was also interested in using the SME Bank to support increased lending operations in Thailand and Vietnam. While details on the investment remain uncertain, KfW was likely to take a seat on the state-owned SME Bank's board of directors.
