Orange County, Fla., Leaders Suggest Convention Centers Keep Half of Tax.

Apr. 27--TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- In a last-ditch bid to save their prized legislation, Orange County leaders have scaled back a proposed convention center tax break and are trying to insert the revised plan directly into the state budget.
And just two weeks after saying the plan was on life support, local leaders are suddenly optimistic again.
Supporters want to use the tax savings, which would have produced almost $1 million for Orange County this year, as part of a $41 million incentive package that Orange, Orlando and others are piecing together to persuade video-game giant Electronic Arts to expand in Central Florida.
