Google Flotation's Creation of New Paper Billionaires Lifts U.S. Spirits.

May 3--If anyone feared that American capitalism was losing its ebullient self-confidence then they should tune in to the Google flotation.

Amid the grim images from Iraqi prisons and the memorialisation of the war dead, the astonishing success of Google's young founders Larry Page, 31, and 30-year-old Sergey Brin has lifted the national spirit.

In Britain, quickly accumulated wealth, like that of retail billionaire Philip Green, is frowned upon.

In the United States, the creation of two new paper billionaires -- plus dozens of millionaires among Google employees -- is seen as uplifting.
