May 8--Ah, those technology companies. They're so, well, different.
At most companies in other sectors of the economy, you need a hearing aid to tune into worries about the probable impact that a new rule requiring expensing of stock options would have on the prices of their shares.
The evidence that expensing will hurt those prices is slim to none.
That's because the costs that would be added to their income statements by accounting for options as an expense are negligible.
Not so for the tech sector, which looks like Venus while the rest of the stock market is Mars.
