New England EPA Chief Orders Connecticut to Resume Emissions Testing.

May 11--The New England chief of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is urging Connecticut to re-start its troubled vehicle emissions testing program as soon as possible, disputing auditors' findings that the program suffers from significant flaws.
"In EPA's view, the problems noted by the [auditors] should be followed up on, but are by no means 'extreme' or 'catastrophic' problems," EPA regional administrator Robert W. Varney wrote in a recent letter to state Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Arthur J. Rocque.
