DaimlerChrysler May Revisit Plans to Build Pooler, Ga., Assembly Plant.

May 11--Better than expected U.S. sales of Dodge- and Freightliner-branded Mercedes vans are prompting DaimlerChrysler execs in Germany to give the proposed Pooler plant another look, according to Monday's issue of Automotive News.
The magazine cites a source at Mercedes-Benz Vans in Germany who says discussions about reviving plans for a U.S. factory are under way, with a decision expected in the fall. Production would begin in 2007.
Eric Winger, president of the Savannah Economic Development Authority, was characteristically coy when asked if SEDA and DaimlerChrysler were talking about the Pooler megasite again.
