NBC Finalizes $14 Billion Deal for Universal.

May 13--General Electric's NBC claimed a place among the media giants Wednesday by absorbing the entertainment assets of Vivendi Universal in a multibillion-dollar deal that includes Universal Orlando and other theme parks worldwide.
The new company, NBC Universal, combines a top-rated television network with a major film and TV studio and five theme parks in three countries. The venture will compete more forcefully with major players such as Viacom Inc., Time Warner Inc. and Walt Disney Co.
