House Panel Clears Defense Bill; Plan Important to Connecticut Contractors.

May 14--A key House committee approved late Wednesday a defense spending blueprint for 2005 that largely matches Pentagon plans for programs important to Connecticut contractors and their workers and boosts spending on Black Hawk helicopters.

That's good news for Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft, which suffered a serious blow in February when the Army announced cancellation of the long-planned Comanche helicopter, a joint program for Sikorsky and the Boeing Co.
