Layoffs Begin at Executive Greetings in New Hartford, Conn.

May 14--Layoffs begin today at Executive Greetings Inc. in New Hartford, which announced plans last month to shut down this summer and put more than 300 people out of work.
Today is the last day at work for just a handful of employees, said Larry Lorenzen, vice president of new business development at The Taylor Corp., the Minnesota company that bought Executive Greetings last month and made the decision to close the local plant. The rest of the layoffs will take place gradually over the next three to four months, he said.
"Everybody has been notified of when their last day will be," Lorenzen said.
