New Hampshire Lawmakers Are Close to Reaching Tollbooth Token Compromise.

May 18--CONCORD, N.H. -- Legislative leaders appear ready to back off from proposals to reduce the breaks that motorists get for using tokens to get through turnpike tollbooths.

House negotiators said Monday they would drop their plans to reduce the token discount.

They instead would urge that the Executive Council make changes to the token discount rate in the future.The state Senate had made those recommendations in their version of the bill.

The compromise also allows the state to install video equipment to properly bill motorists who join the E-ZPass program.

A motorist who obtains an E-ZPass transponder will be able to drive a car...
