May 16--UNIVERSAL LOOKS TO A HAPPY ENDING WITH NEW OWNERS: Last week, NBC completed its long-awaited takeover of Vivendi Universal, consolidating its position as a rival to Time Warner, Walt Disney and Viacom, and hinting at more aquisitions. The new $14 billion (UKpound 8 billion, E11.7 billion) beast, NBC Universal, will be top-heavy with NBC talent, led by NBC's Bob Wright, who will be chairman and chief executive, and Randy Falco, head of NBC Network, who will oversee sales and operations. Ron Meyer, head of Universal Studios, will stay on as head of the Hollywood studio division.
