May 20--BILL SHANNON, the former pub restaurants boss at Whitbread who quit after failing to win the chief executive's job, gets a UKpound 587,300 payoff and UKpound 162,000 pension top-up.
Shannon earned UKpound 1.149 million last year, up from UKpound 594,958, boosted by a UKpound 775,825 bonus. Retiring Whitbread boss David Thomas earned UKpound 1.4 million, up from UKpound 849,075, lifted by a UKpound 810,241 bonus. Whitbread rose 8 1/2 pence to 761 pence.
