United Auto Group Buys Honda Dealerships in San Jose and Clovis, Calif.

May 20--Automotive retail giant United Auto Group Inc. on Wednesday announced plans to buy Honda North in Clovis along with five other dealerships owned by Ted Stevens Automotive Network in San Jose.

The dealerships would be the first in Northern California for the Fortune 500 company, said Tony Pordon, vice president of investor relations and corporate communication for United Auto. The publicly traded company -- headed by auto-racing legend Roger Penske -- reported revenue of $8.7 billion last year.

United Auto has 12 franchises in Southern California.
