Removal of Paintings from Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital Angers Staff.

May 21--In the escalating battle over the future of MCP Hospital, Steven Peitzman decided to take a stand. The kidney doctor parked himself in front of a painting of Ann Preston, an MCP graduate who later became dean, and refused to budge.

The doctor lost.

In a move that infuriated the MCP Hospital staff and drew flack from Gov. Rendell's office, workers hired by the Drexel University College of Medicine yesterday removed more than 40 paintings from MCP depicting its Quaker founders and eminent physicians from the last 154 years, including Preston.
