San Diego-Based Pet Supply Firm Settles State Consumer Suit.

May 28--Petco Animal Supplies has settled a consumer protection lawsuit in California, agreeing to pay $651,754 in fines and investigative costs for allegedly neglecting animals and overcharging customers.

The San Diego company also will spend $202,500 to install better equipment in its California stores to eliminate overcharging.

Petco agreed to the settlement without admitting any wrongdoing.
