Transportation Department Aims to Finish Warwick, R.I., Bridge on Time.

May 28--WARWICK, R.I. -- Three years into the reconstruction of the Greenwood Bridge, Warwick residents can be excused for thinking the new target date for completion may come and go without speeding up their daily crosstown commute.

But the state Department of Transportation is sticking with the August completion date it announced last fall, after a public outcry over construction delays that have put the project a year behind schedule.

The Greenwood Bridge, at Route 113 and Post Road, is a key east-west passage around T.F. Green Airport. If the $4.75-million bridge were finished today, it would still have taken longer than the $210-million reconstruction...
