Bergen County, N.J., Hospital, Nurses Battle the Clock.

Jun. 2--Nurses and staff were negotiating contract terms with officials at Bergen Regional Medical Center late Tuesday in an effort to avert a strike scheduled for 7 a.m. today.
"I would say we have a 50-50 chance of having a contract," said Paul Swibinski, a hospital spokesman.
The Paramus hospital's management and the Health Professionals and Allied Employees, an Emerson-based union that represents 425 employees, were far apart on several key issues, including salaries, pension benefits, and staffing ratios, both sides said.
