Jun. 4--Brian Franzson twisted the dials on the dashboard. He opened and then closed the drop-down TV screen in the back seat. He punched a button and watched the automated door close.
And he bounced up and down gently in the seats, front and back.
But the Maywood resident paid little attention to the fuel efficiency information posted on the side window. He was set on buying a sport-utility vehicle, and the size, comfort, and seating of the Ford Explorer, the nation's top selling SUV, were more important than its 16-miles-per-gallon rating.
