Blue Cross of Florida to Try Online Doctor Consultations.

Jun. 7--Doctors may soon be making virtual house calls in Florida, joining physicians in a handful of other states on the leading edge of Internet-based medicine.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, the state's biggest health insurer, hopes to start reimbursing doctors later this year for online consultations with patients who use a special Web site to seek help for nonurgent medical problems.
The system will allow physicians to write prescriptions online in addition to dispensing advice.
More than 1,000 doctors and as many as 100,000 patients are expected to participate in the initial phase, but the program could grow tenfold by the middle of next...
