Factory Outlet President Says 2 Long Island, N.Y., Malls Can Co-Exist.

Jun. 8--The president of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. said yesterday that he is optimistic the company's planned outlets in Deer Park will become a destination for Long Islanders and won't hurt Tanger's sprawling center in Riverhead.
Speaking in Manhattan at a National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts conference, Steven B. Tanger said the planned center primarily would attract shoppers from the South Shore, rather than from the 10-year-old Riverhead center.
The question is important both for Tanger's company, which counts Riverhead as the biggest of its outlet centers in the country, and for Riverhead in general, where the outlet center is...
