Board of Alaska's Cook Inlet Region Inc. Gets a Different Look.

Jun. 8--Shareholders of Cook Inlet Region Inc. have elected three incumbents and two reformers to the CIRI board of the directors.

The election results, announced at Saturday's annual meeting, mean the Alliance for the Future of CIRI, a group critical of the company's management, now controls six seats on the 15-member board. While the outcome doesn't mean a sea change in the balance of power, it shows the Alliance campaign, launched in 2002, continues to gain momentum, a prospect that troubles those running one of Alaska's most successful Native corporations.
