Jun. 9--The wait continues for regulatory clearance of R.J. Reynolds' proposed merger with Brown and Williamson Tobacco.
On Tuesday, the Federal Trade Commission extended the deadline for issuing regulatory approval to June 24 at 5 p.m., the fourth deadline extension. The companies had previously planned to close the deal on Friday.
In spite of Tuesday's deadline extension, officials from both RJR and B&W continue to say they expect the merger to gain FTC approval by mid-year. However, R.J. ...
