Texas Education Agency Struggles with Funding Shortage to Buy Books.

Jun. 11--When school starts in August, an estimated 70,000 students might not have textbooks because the Texas Education Agency lacks the money to buy the books it promised.
If school districts cannot order additional books, many students will have to share books, and teachers may have to use worksheets and the Internet for lessons.
The agency needs $110 million worth of textbooks but has only $39 million to buy them, agency spokeswoman Debbie Graves Ratcliffe said this week.
