Aberdeen Finance Corp. Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Jun. 11--A business operated by a former Aberdeen mayor has filed for bankruptcy.

Aberdeen Finance Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy late last month.

Tim Rich, mayor for more than 13 years until 1999, has long been a top executive for the business.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy requires a business to reorganize its debts and develop a court-approved plan for repayment.

Sioux Falls attorney Patrick Dougherty is handling Aberdeen Finance's bankruptcy proceedings. He said the business, 18 Third Ave. S.E., is still open and will remain open. "We intend to repay our creditors," Dougherty said.
