Budget Woes to Close Davenport, Fla., Swimming Pool for Summer.

Jun. 13--DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Kids in Davenport who plan to spend their summer vacations swimming with their friends better have a backyard pool.
This summer, the city has pulled the plug on the public pool and children have been left high and dry.
Council member Lewis Mathews said he is bringing up the subject of the closed pool at Monday's council meeting so the public can hear the opinions of other members of the board.
"I knew what it did for the kids; it is a kids' program," Mathews said.
"Baseball ends in June, and there's nothing for the kids."
