Former Executive at U.K. TV Broadcaster Leads Bid to Snatch Cinema Chain UCI.

Jun. 13--Former Carlton chairman Michael Green is the front-runner to win the UCI cinema chain after bidding about UKpound 460 million -- more than double earlier forecasts -- with partner CineUK.

Green, ousted as chairman-elect of broadcaster ITV last year, is being backed by American investment bank JP Morgan and private equity firm Warburg Pincus.

He is also making a personal investment through Tangent, the private vehicle he already owned before he started Carlton. He has been joined by Carlton's former finance director Paul Murray and former company secretary David Abdoo.

CineUK is chaired by City veteran Tony Bloom and owns 34 cinemas...
