Kirin to Recall Beer-Like Buckler Drink.

Jun. 15--TOKYO -- Kirin Brewery Co. announced Tuesday it will recall the low-alcohol beer-like beverage Buckler, which is imported from Heineken N.V. of the Netherlands, because some bottles contain insufficiently sterilized yeast.

Kirin sells Buckler as a "drink which tastes like beer" since it contains less than 0.5 percent alcohol, but the bottles with yeast that was improperly sterilized at Heineken's breweries could contain more alcohol, it said.

Beer must have more than 1 percent alcohol to be sold as such in Japan.

At present, around 40,000 to 50,000 cases of 330-milliliter Buckler bottles are on the shelves in the Japanese market. One case contains 24...
