Northeast Utilities Reaches Tentative Agreement with Connecticut Regulators.

Jun. 16--Northeast Utilities and state utility regulators have reached a tentative settlement that would lower the profits the company can make on its transmission facilities while enabling it to profit more quickly from future investments.

Under the deal, outlined in papers NU filed with securities regulators, the maximum return the company could earn on the equity in its transmission network would be 11.0 percent, down from the current level of 11.75 percent.

The plan, which still requires approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, might save individual electric customers in Connecticut only pennies a month.
